Announcing 2006 Commencement Speakers
CA Attorney General Bill Lockyer is the keynote speaker for the Class of 2006 Commencement. Lockyer became California's 30th attorney general in 2002. He is a veteran legislator, having been first elected to the State Assembly in 1973 to represent the East San Francisco Bay area. He moved to the Senate in 1982. In 1994, he was elected president pro tem of the Senate. Earlier he had been chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee for nine years, overseeing numerous bills on judicial administration and civil and criminal law. Lockyer has been honored many times by state and national environment organizations, and in 1997 was honored by the California Journal for all-around excellence. He is a candidate for California State Treasurer in 2006.
