Angela Han '17 shows strength as a weightlifting competitor

Since leaving King Hall, Angela Han ’17 has been working as an associate at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in San Francisco. She also picked up a new, weighty hobby: For the past year, Han has competed in USA Weightlifting-sanctioned events, including a recent national-level event in Las Vegas.

“It was huge for me to compete at this level, especially as someone still relatively new to the competition world,” Han said of the Las Vegas competition. “I think it is one of my best and favorite achievements, other than passing the bar.”

Just a year into her training, Han already has lifted weights exceeding her body weight over her head. And although she did not medal in Las Vegas, she set new personal competition records.

She took up weightlifting because “I am very passionate about living an active lifestyle,” she said. “I believe weightlifting not only trains your body, but also your mind. It is focused, mindful, technical movement. This sport allows me to stay active, and honestly be a better lawyer. I really think having a strong body and mind are connected.”
