American Society for Aesthetics elects Professor Soucek as a trustee
Professor Brian Soucek has been elected as a trustee of the American Society for Aesthetics. His three-year term begins Feb. 1.
A philosopher of art as well as a law professor, Soucek holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Columbia University. Among his specialties at UC Davis Law is the intersection of law and aesthetics. He has spoken at 14 of the past 16 ASA annual meetings.
Professor Soucek’s other primary teaching and research interests are antidiscrimination law, civil procedure, constitutional law, and refugee/asylum law. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School. He has clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Mark R. Kravitz in Connecticut, and Judge Guido Calabresi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
