Alum Luis Alejo Running for Watsonville City Council

UC Davis School of Law alum Luis Alejo '01 has thrown his hat into the ring for Watsonville, California, City Council. Alejo, a Watsonville native who has been asked to run in the past, is currently a staff attorney for the Monterey County Superior Court. During his career, Alejo has been a vocal advocate for Watsonville's low-income population and, if elected, seeks to focus attention on the area's education, neighborhood watch, and waste management systems, which he believes are severely in need of reform. At present, it appears Alejo will be running against council veteran Oscar Rios, a longtime friend and colleague. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
