Alleged Juror Misconduct in Lodi Terrorism Case
Professor of Law Donna Shestowsky commented in The Sacramento Bee on a request by Hayat's lawyer to toss the guilty verdict, citing a note from juror who alleges misconduct. Shestowsky said she is not aware of alleged juror misconduct cases that succeeded based on insults or browbeating. Hamid Hayat was found guilty of providing material support to terrorists by undergoing training in Pakistan in 2003 and returning to Lodi 11 months ago prepared to wage violent jihad in the United States. He faces a maximum of 39 years in prison.
