3L Awarded Equal Justice Works Fellowship
Crisanne Hazen '06 was awarded a two-year fellowship from Equal Justice Works, the nation's largest postgraduate legal fellowship program that provides support to a third-year law student, recent law graduate, or experienced attorney with a demonstrated commitment to public interest law who has the skills and initiative to carry out the goals of the applicant's proposed project.
Starting in September, Hazen will work at Legal Advocates for Children and Youth in San Jose, CA, providing outreach and advocacy to pregnant and parenting teens. As part of her fellowship project, Hazen will develop a legal education curriculum aimed at informing teen parents of their legal rights and responsibilities, including child support, child custody and visitation, statutory rape, paternity, restraining orders and government benefits. Hazen will also represent youth in court to enforce their legal rights.
