Summer Research Assistant Training - Monday, May 15th

Each year, the Mabie Law Library provides a special training opportunity for students hired as research assistants by King Hall faculty for the summer. This year, the training will be held via Zoom on Monday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. To receive a Zoom link, please RSVP here in advance.

The training will be provided by Research Librarians Kristin Brandt and Elisabeth McKechnie, Dean Scivoletto, and Human Resources Manager Lisa Harry. The first section will include information on paperwork for getting hired and paid, as well as tips for your success as an RA. The bulk of the training will consist of:

  • Understanding and beginning your research project
  • Finding the right database and effectively searching both legal and multidisciplinary databases
  • Search strategies, including Boolean searching and tools for expanding your research
  • Citations, indexes, print materials and using a catalog

This training is highly recommended for summer RAs. Do not miss out on this opportunity to develop your research skills.
