Summer and Post-Grad Access to Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, and CEB

UC Davis students may use many law school database accounts over the summer and after graduation. Here are the policies:

Lexis

Summer Access:

Students will automatically have free unlimited use of their law school Lexis+ ID this summer. This includes workplace-related research, though students should check with their employer. Many employers prefer summer associates use an employer-issued Lexis ID. No special registration is required for summer access. Students should sign into their existing Lexis accounts.

After Graduation:

Spring graduates will be able to continue using their law school Lexis ID through December 31, 2021. No registration is required. Graduates can sign into Lexis+ as usual. You will have the same world-class legal and news content enjoyed in law school, excluding public records.

Westlaw

Summer Access:

Students may use Westlaw for educational purposes, such as research assistant assignments, law journals, law school clinics, externships, and other unpaid positions. Westlaw accounts may not be used for paid positions.

After Graduation:

Graduating law students have access to Westlaw for six months after graduation. Your "Grad Elite" access gives you 60 hours per month of usage to gain understanding and build confidence in your research skills. While you cannot use your Westlaw access in situations when you are billing a client, Thomson Reuters encourages you to use these tools to build your knowledge of the law and prepare for the bar exam.

Bloomberg Law

Summer Access:

Current students have unlimited access during the summer and can use the platform for any purpose.

After Graduation:

Bloomberg Law provides graduates with unlimited access for six months following graduation. For Spring 2021 grads, access will continue through November 30, 2021.

CEB

Summer Access:

Use of CEB is unrestricted over the summer.

After Graduation:

Graduates with a CEB account will keep their access for 18 months after graduation. Students must sign up for CEB accounts while still in law school to obtain graduate access. We highly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. CEB practice materials are frequently used in California and cover a wide range of subject areas.

To sign up for a personal CEB account contact lawlibref@ucdavis.edu for a registration code.
