California Consolidates Cannabis agencies, creating the Department of Cannabis Control
The Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) was recently established to consolidate enforcement, licensing and environmental oversight of the cannabis industry in California. Assembly Bill 141, signed July 12, 2021 eliminates three state cannabis programs - the Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC), the California Department of Food and Agriculture's (CDFA) CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing Division, and the California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) Manufactured Cannabis Safety Branch. The new law also requires the DCC to provide information on its website related to licensing in order to create more transparency. See SacBee, JDSupra.
