Professor Bala Wins Praise in Jotwell for Yale Law Journal Article
Loyola Law School Professor Kaiponanea Matsumura wrote a positive review in Jotwell of Professor Nila Bala’s forthcoming Yale Law Journal article, “Guilt by Parenthood.”
The April 28 Jotwell piece calls Bala's article “compelling” and “insightful” in its exploration of the shared normative underpinnings of the recent expansion of parental rights as a legal concept and the rise in the public’s desire to punish parents for their children’s actions.
Nila Bala is a scholar of children’s rights, criminal law, and evidence. Her work examines how law structures childhood, particularly through criminal law, emerging technologies, and systems of surveillance and punishment. At King Hall, she teaches Criminal Law, Evidence, and Children and the Law.
