Professor Bala Speaks at Assembly’s Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee’s Surveillance Hearing

Professor Nila Bala was an invited speaker at the California State Assembly’s Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee’s March 3 informational hearing on surveillance. 

Bala spoke on the "Surveillance for Governance and Control" panel, along with Jason Koebler, investigative journalist and founder of 404 Media. Bala addressed the Fourth Amendment and its relevance to government surveillance of Californians. 

Nila Bala is a scholar of children’s rights, criminal law, and evidence. Her work examines how law structures childhood, particularly through criminal law, emerging technologies, and systems of surveillance and punishment. At King Hall, she teaches Criminal Law, Evidence, and Children and the Law.
