Jaime Ubilla (PhD) is currently a Visiting Scholar at the School of Law of the University of California at Davis.

He is a professor of law at the Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile, imparting courses on legal theory, legal sociology, and global law. His research focuses on social systems theory and new post-modern strategies to steer social change.His theoretical and legislative advisory work is based on his theory on ´reflexive legal forms´ (Ubilla, 2016) developed through his PhD research at the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He also holds a M.A. in Law from Waseda University and a J.D. from Universidad de Chile. Dr. Ubilla proposed and drafted legislation that enacted a new property right known as the ´environmental conservation right´ or ´conservation right´ in Chile (Law 20.930 of 2016). He has been a member of the Global Commission on Environmental Law of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). He is also the founder and director of the Conservation Law Center of Chile.
