Terrific labor and employment law speakers include a King Hall alum
Our students have amazing “culture” weeks of programming, with great speakers on great topics. This week, the King Hall Labor and Employment Law Association (KHLELA) held a wonderful a panel on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Labor and Employment Law. It was an amazing group of employment lawyers.
Three guest panelists participated: Miranda LeKander, S pecial Counsel on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at the newly formed California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation; William Tamayo, District Director of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, San Francisco District, and Jennifer Martinez, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at Hanson Bridgett LLP.
Bill Tamayo is a proud and dedicated UC Davis School of Law alumnus (Class of `78), whom I have had the privilege of knowing for many years. Before going to the EEOC, Bill was the director of the Asian Law Caucus, a leading civil rights organization. He has been a staunch defender of the civil rights of immigrants and farmworkers, who are too often forgotten even in the civil rights realm. Bill has won many awards for his path-breaking civil rights work.
