State Senate Resolution Supports Student Efforts on behalf of Hong Yen Chang

Senators

We first met with Senator Jim Beall (D-San Jose), a cosponsor of the resolution, who exhibited a keen knowledge of California history. We then went to the Senate floor for a vote. I was able to talk with Senator Lois Wolk and Senator Darrell Steinberg '84, two friends of UC Davis School of Law. The Senate passed the resolution and Senator Beall had our group introduced on the Senate floor. We also were able to watch the legislative action on a human trafficking bill and many other important pieces of legislation. It was a nice show of support for the efforts of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association to do justice to the memory of Hong Yen Chang.

Senate President pro Tem Steinberg gave the students a tour of his office, which is filled with mementos (including a football signed by San Francisco 49er star Keena Turner), and talked with the students about their careers in law.
