Spring Mixer for KHIPLA in Palo Alto
Bijal Vakil '97 talks with students
Last week King Hall alum Bijal Vakil ‘97, the Managing Partner for White & Case’s Palo Alto office, hosted the King Hall Intellectual Property Law Association for its annual Spring Mixer. Over 60 students and alums from leading firms and companies spent the evening discussing intellectual property careers and working with technology clients.
A number of alums, including Angela Dunning ‘00, a partner with Cooley LLP, Megan Olesak ‘97, a partner with Turner Boyd, Andy Liu ’11, a partner with Weintraub, and Byron Chin ’08, a senior associate with Kilpatrick Townsend, were in attendance. We also had a great turnout of alums working with leading technology companies, including John Pavolotsky ‘00 from Intel, Cindy Dole ‘09 and David Shen ’10 from Samsung, Jennifer Gossain ‘07 from Marvell Semiconductor, Nathan Zhang ’13 from Applied Materials, Nish Hossain ’15 from Apple, and Rew Ikazaki ‘87 from Byton North America – a startup electronic vehicle company. In addition, alums from Squire Sanders, Alston & Bird, Wilson Sonsini, Fenwick & West, Toyota Research Institute, Stanford Technology Licensing, and many other companies attended.
Our Career Services office led by Craig Compton, along with Ramya Auroprem ‘20, the president of KHIPLA, and Erin Friscia from the Alumni Relations department helped make this event happen. Karen Charney, our Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations also made the trip.
I would like to especially thank Bijal Vakil and his team, including Hallie Kiernan ’16 and Elizabeth Chang ’18 at White & Case for hosting the event and providing such a great venue. We have a lot of attorneys practicing in Silicon Valley at leading firms and companies and it was an outstanding opportunity for them to get together and interact with our students.
