'Saving the News' with Professor Martha Minow
The UC Davis Law faculty enjoyed spending lunch with Professor Martha Minow, former Dean of Harvard Law School, who talked about her latest book on the First Amendment. Professor Irene Joe introduced Professor Minow, who has mentored her over the years.
Professor Minow discussed the framers’ protection of the press in the First Amendment and how government has supported the press over time to the age of the internet. Part of the discussion involved the “weaponized First Amendment” in recent Supreme Court decisions, which Professor Minow laments.
Professor Minow offered a pleasant distraction from the slowly evolving results of the 2020 election.
