Sacramento Panel on Immigration Reform
I participated on a February 21 panel for the Sacramento Family Unity, Education and Legal Network for Immigrants to discuss the rise and fall of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and the potential for immigration reform.
The panelists discussing immigration issues facing the community included Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg '84, Councilmember Eric Guerra, Professor Amagda Perez, Associate Vice Chancellor Raquel Aldana, and Attorney Marcus Tang. Aldana discussed the end of Temporary Protected Status for Salvadorans. Perez talked about possible relief for removal for DACA recipients. And, Tang discussed a new Legal Services program for the community.
