Remembering Dr. King

Dear King Hall Community,

On this day in 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was tragically shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee. As the nation grieved his loss, UC Davis Law students lobbied to have their new building named for Dr. King. A year later, King Hall was officially dedicated in memory of the civil rights giant.

Tomorrow evening, we will honor Dr. King’s legacy at a special MLK Dinner for admitted students and their family and friends. Dr. King’s message of equality guides our law school every day. I hope we all take a moment today to reflect on his impact on our law school, nation and world.
