MLK Scholarship Fund Award Celebration
UC Davis School of Law hosted the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund Award Celebration on Jan. 15, which would have been Dr. King’s 91 st birthday. The Rev. Tim Malone organized the event.
The evening started with an inspiring song from Sacramento’s Voices Gospel Choir. Davis Enterprise columnist and King Hall alum Bob Dunning '73 was the emcee. San Francisco NAACP President Dr. Amos Brown, a friend of Dr. King and civil rights leader Medgar Evers, offered inspiring comments on the times in which we live. Next, a number of college students were awarded scholarships. Law student Lyla Bugara ’20 was one of the scholarship recipients.
UC Davis Chancellor Gary May was in attendance and was honored with a Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund Outstanding Service Award. Associate Executive Vice Chancellor Rahim Reed also was honored. I was also pleased to be honored.
It was an inspirational evening at King Hall.
