Making Dinners for Fourth & Hope

The Schwartz/Levi Inn of Court, headed by President and King Hall alum Judge (soon to be sworn in as a Justice on the Courts of Appeal) Shama Mesiwala '98, engages in some incredible community service activities. One of them is making a meal for Fourth & Hope, which serves the unhoused community of Woodland and the local area. Once a month, members of the Inn make dinner for 100 people. A great group of regulars bring food and drink and prepare and package a warm meal. I have been participating for the last year or so. Presiding Judge Dan Maguire of the Yolo County Superior Court is an enthusiastic regular volunteer as well.

Last Sunday afternoon, the Inn prepared roasted chicken, organic green salad, fruit, rolls, and brownies. Dinner was served with water.

The Inn of Court allows law students, attorneys, judges, and lawyers to meet and discuss legal issues as well as to give to the community. In my estimation, the Inn does a great job providing attorney and judicial mentors to law students and inculcating the importance of community service.
