Learning more about Professor Bill Ong Hing
I was very pleased to hear from Professor Joel Dobris that he recently interviewed his former colleague, Professor Bill Ong Hing, for the UC Davis Emeriti Association’s Video Records Project. You can watch the video here.
Bill is a world-renowned immigration scholar, and we are longtime collaborators. But as well as I know him, I learned a lot from the new video.
For instance, as an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, Bill was weighing both medicine and law as career options. This was before, as he recalls, “I ran into something called Organic Chemistry in my pre-med classes. At that point, I knew I would never get into medical school.”
“Organic Chemistry has been responsible for many a good lawyer,” Professor Dobris replies. It’s true. The legal profession, and legal education, owe that UC Berkeley professor a debt!
