La Charla with La Raza Law Students

This week, La Raza Law Students Association (LRLSA) hosted “La Charla (the Conversation) with Dean Johnson,” which has turned into an annual event. It was special having Professor Amagda Pérez '91 of the Immigration Law Clinic in attendance; Professor Pérez was the co-chair of LRLSA when I began on the faculty at King Hall. I had a wonderful time talking with the students about a variety of topics, including faculty and student diversity, future improvements to the Loan Repayment Assistance Program, and more. The students asked an incredible set of questions touching on issues of social justice in the classroom, what the school was doing for our Deferred  Action for Childhood Arrivals program students, and many more fascinating subjects.

LRLSA co-chair Angela Yahaira Breining '19 introduced me and presented me with an official LRLSA t-shirt. See photo. Talking with the students reminded me how lucky I was to teach at UC Davis School of Law.
