KHLF year in review
I would like to share this letter from the hard-working 2019-20 co-chairs of the King Hall Legal Foundation, Kristi Thielen '21 and Lisa Nakashima '21. Thanks for the great work, Kristi, Lisa and KHLF!
Dear KHLF Members, Faculty, and Sponsors,
We hope you are staying safe and healthy.
During these uncertain times, we wanted to maintain communication about KHLF grants, our fundraising accomplishments, and general organization updates.
First, we would like to announce that we raised over
$70,000 this year! We received
56 KHLF applications and will be able to fund every applicant with a
$1,255 grant. In comparison, last year, we had 36 KHLF applicants and raised $50,000. Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, and faculty who supported us and volunteered this year. A special thank you to our past and current board members. KHLF applicants, you will receive an email in the next couple of days from Career Services with your full grant package (UCOP & KHLF grants together).
Second, we would like to announce that we have elected our new Board of Directors! They are as follows:
Co-Chairs:
Camille Halley '22, Corina Yetter '22 & Courtney Schwyzer '22
Secretary:
Alexandra Seymour '22
Treasurer:
Jacob Chabot '22 & Yuki Hirai '21
We are so excited to have such a talented and committed group of students leading the organization next year.
Finally, we wanted to make a note that due to the difficulties created by COVID-19, we were not able to offer the
Floyd F. Feeney Criminal Justice & Policy Scholarship this year. However, we are committed to implementing the scholarship next year. For those of you who don't know, t
his scholarship was created by KHLF during the 2019-2020 school year to honor the late Professor Floyd F. Feeney and his immense impact on the field of criminal law, policy, and King Hall students throughout his career. Please keep an eye out for this scholarship next year.
We would like to thank you all for KHLF's successful year. This Co-Chair experience has meant so much to us, and we hope you continue to support KHLF in future years.
Best,
Kristi Thielen + Lisa Nakashima
