Justice Nathan Mihara speaks at APALSA's virtual banquet

This week, the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association held its 9th annual banquet virtually. Professor Clay Tanaka introduced the keynote speaker, Justice Nathan Mihara of the California Courts of Appeal, Sixth District. A graduate of Hastings and classmate of Professor Tanaka, Justice Mihara spoke generally on freedom and being a lawyer “outside the box.” He reflected on his legal career, which included time in private practice and in the California Attorney General’s Office.

The event honored the graduating Class of 2021. It was a warm and upbeat event that allowed us to congratulate soon-to-be King Hall alums. Kim Ng, '20, recognized the Class of 2020, which was unable to have a banquet.

The new APALSA board was introduced.

Professors Bill Dodge and Alan Brownstein, along with Senior Associate Dean Afra Afsharipour and Dean of Admissions Kristen Mercado, were in attendance. Judges Shama H. Mesiwala '98 and Kara Ueda '00, alums who teach courses at the law school, also were in attendance. There was an incredible turnout.
