Named after a beloved and now passed alum, Bill F. Smith (’98), the Memorial Lecture was established with the support of his family. In his brief career as an attorney, Bill Smith championed the rights of the underrepresented in the labor and employment context. Each year the Lambda Law Students Association invites a speaker in the disability or LGBTQ+ rights fields to speak in Bill’s honor. Daniella Carter, lifelong LGBTQ+ youth advocate, actress, producer, director, and founder of “Daniella’s Guestbook,” will be the featured 2024 Bill Smith Memorial Lecture speaker.
