This past weekend, the Latinx Law Students Association held the 39th Lorenzo Patiño Banquet online. It was a wonderful celebration of the great students of the Class of 2021.

The keynote speaker, Judge Emily Vasquez, offered inspirational comments to the graduates. Judge Vasquez, the daughter of farm workers, was the first Latina judge on the Sacramento Superior Court. Before being appointed to the bench, she worked in the public interest, private, and government sectors.

Professor Raquel Aldana was honored as the fourth annual Cruz Reynoso Award winner. She offered heartfelt remarks in the joys of our students.

The Lorenzo Patiño Community Service Award winner was Joana Peraza Lizarraga '21, a devoted immigrant rights advocate. Joana has been my research assistant over the past few years. She offered inspirational remarks.

Justice Elena Duarte from the California Courts of Appeals, Professors Jasmine Harris and Amagda Pérez, and Dean of Admissions Kristen Mercado were in attendance, among many others.

The last part of the event was congratulating the graduating 3Ls. It was a great group.
