INLR symposium focuses on recent changes in immigration

Earlier this week, the Immigration and Nationality Law Review (INLR), which was brought to UC Davis by Professor Jack Chin, and the Immigration Law Association (ILA) held its annual symposium discussing recent changes in immigration.

Law student Gladys Morales '22 welcomed the group and organized a super event.

Panelists discussed immigrants at the U.S. border, immigration prosecutions, DACA, and the Muslim and African ban. The event included a brief presentation by each panelist followed by a question-and-answer session.

I was pleased to moderate the event. The panelists included Professor Raquel Aldana, who spoke about seekers and others at the U.S. border, Professor Eric Fish, a federal public defender who spoke on criminal immigration prosecutions, and Dean of Diversity Equity and Inclusion Shoba Sivaprasad Wadhia (Penn State), who discussed prosecutorial discretion, the Muslim and Africa ban, and DACA: then and now.

The group of almost 100 participants had a rich discussion of immigration issues facing the Biden administration and a wonderful Q&A.
