Inaugural Sacramento Region Diversity Career Fair

On Saturday, Feb. 26, I had the opportunity to speak at the first Sacramento Region Diversity Career Fair along with Phillip Talbert, the United States Attorney for the EDCA, and Chi Soo Kim, Executive Assistant United States Attorney for the EDCA. It was a great event with more than 40-area employers participating and a number of King Hall students in attendance.
Many of our alums were present on behalf of their employers and all of the Sacramento Unity Bar associations co-sponsored the event: Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento, Sacramento Filipino Lawyers Association, SacLegal, Women’s Lawers of Sacramento, Wiley W. Manuel Bar Association, Leonard M. Friedman Bar Association, and the South Asian Bar Association of Sacramento. It was great to be at a networking event in person especially one working to further diversify the bar in Sacramento.
In addition, I had the chance to see and speak with many of the local judges including Judge Troy Nunley of the EDCA, who also spoke on a panel to kick-off the day, Chief Judge Kimberly Mueller of the EDCA and Sacramento Superior Court Judge Shama Mesiwala.
I want to especially thank the organizers of the event who I know put in long hours to make it happen: Kim Thomas from the UC Davis Career Services office, Chi Soo Kim from the United States Attorney’s Office, and Isabella Hannon from the McGeorge Career Services Office. Natalie Butcher, Sofia Parino, and Craig Compton from our Career Services office also helped staff the event.
