Goodwin Liu Sworn-In to California Supreme Court

There were lots of King Hall connections at the swearing-in.  Professor Emeritus and former State Supreme Court Justice Cruz Reynoso was there.  Our alum Justice Kathleen Butz ’81, Associate Justice of the California Courts of Appeal, Third Appellate District, was in attendance.  State Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg and State Supreme Court Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, both members of the Class of ’84, were there.  I chatted with Assembly member Luis Alejo ’01.  Our alum and former LSA president Victoria Hassid ’10 was greeting people at the entrance of the Capitol Rotunda.  She is an assistant in the Office of Governor Brown.

I talked with the Chief Justice at the Governor’s reception after the swearing in.  She mentioned that she was looking forward to holding Cal S Ct oral arguments at King Hall in November 2012!

It was great to catch up with everyone.  And congratulations to Justice Liu!
