Enhancing the LL.M. student experience
Last Friday, I had two sessions with our LL.M. students, who have been remotely taking UC Davis Law classes around the world, from China to Saudi Arabia to Paraguay, as well as from Los Angeles, San Diego, and Davis. The two sessions were designed to offer options to students in different time zones.
I thanked the students for their patience with the inconvenience of remote instruction and assured them that Associate Dean for International Programs Beth Greenwood and her team were doing everything possible to ensure that the student experience was first rate in all respects. My goal was to solicit input from students on any ideas they had to enhance the student experience. Students expressed satisfaction with the instruction but missed interaction with other students and faculty.
We also discussed Election 2020, which was a contentious one. Several students offered insights into the election and interest in the operation of U.S democracy.
I concluded by expressing hope about when we will be able to get together in person when public health guidelines permit. These amazing international students are an important part of the UC Davis Law community and I thoroughly enjoyed our dialogue.
