CILC's Global Voices on Democracy and Human Rights Speaker Series

On Wednesday, January 24, Professor Chimène Keitner presented for the California International Law Center's Global Voices on Democracy and Human Rights Speaker Series. She gave a presentation about her experience at the “Stand Tall for the Rule of Law” Summit in Lviv, Ukraine, which took place in December.

Professor Keitner discussed takeaways from the trip, including reflections on the legacies of two jurists who studied in Lviv and shaped international law: Sir Hersch Lauterpacht, who championed the idea of the individual as a subject of international law, and Raphael Lemkin, who coined the term “genocide” and spearheaded the Genocide Convention.
