CILC Event Focuses on Academic Freedom as Cornerstone of Democracy

Robert Quinn

Last week, the California International Law Center hosted another stellar speaker in its Law and Democracy Series. The title of the talk was "Academic Freedom as a Human Right and Cornerstone of Democracy.” The speaker Robert Quinn, Executive Director of Scholars at Risk (SAR), discussed why attacks on higher education happen, why they matter, and what we can do about them.

Quinn offered important thoughts about the importance of academic freedom and how we need to protect it. UC Davis School of Law has housed scholars through Scholars at Risk.  We are proud to have done so.

Associate Dean for International Programs Beth Greenwood introduced Quinn.
