China University of Political Science and Law faculty visit UCOP

Last week, I had the honor of meeting with a group of faculty from our good friend, the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), at the University of California Office of the President (UCOP). Provost and Executive Vice President Michael Brown convened the meeting of the CUPL delegation, which had visited UCLA and UC Berkeley, and soon will visit UC Santa Barbara. 

I enjoyed talking about UC Davis School of Law’s extensive relationship with CUPL.  Ever since then-Dean Rex Perschbacher and Associate Dean for International Programs Beth Greenwood visited CUPL in Beijing in 2006, King Hall has participated in extensive faculty and student exchanges, and collaborated on research and conference opportunities.  Each school has hosted visiting scholars from the other school. UC Davis has had many visiting scholars and Ph.D. and LL.M. students from CUPL. 

After our meeting, we had a bountiful and delicious lunch in Oakland’s Chinatown, only blocks away from UCOP.

One of the attendees had met our alum, Tony Trembley '83, who is vice mayor of the city of Camarillo. It truly is a small world.
