Fair Business and Investor Advocacy Chair Professor Robert Hillman taught his last class of Business Association before transitioning to emeritus status.  Beloved by his students, Professor Hillman has been the foundation for the business law curriculum at UC Davis School of Law.  He s a leading authority on partnership law and the legal and ethics issues arising from lawyer mobility and law firm breakups.  Professor Hillman’s treatise, Hillman on Lawyer Mobility (Aspen Publishing), is the definitive work on mobility issues and is cited frequently by state and federal courts. He also is the co-author (with Donald Weidner and Allan Vestal) of The Revised Uniform Partnership Act (West/Thompson Publishing) and the co-author (with Jim Cox and Don Langevoort) of Securities Regulation: Cases and Materials (Aspen), now in its sixth edition.

The class celebrated with a special cake with Professor Hillman’s name in blue icing. Two alums from the class of 1986, Magistrate Judge Dennis Cota and Assistant Federal Defender David Porter, were there to celebrate their former professor. The Business Law Journal will be holding a symposium in the fall celebrating Professor Hillman’s storied career.  Stay tuned for details.
