California's 'Real Politics' of Plastics Pollution

CELPC event

Last week, the California Environmental Law & Policy Center hosted its final Fall Speaker Series program. With a full house, Jay Ziegler, The Nature Conservancy's Director of Policy and External Affairs, spoke on "California's 'Real Politics' of Plastics Pollution.”

Jay oversees the California chapter’s engagements at the federal, state and regional levels. He has also served in communications and policy development roles in state and federal government, including with Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, focusing on endangered species, public lands, water and natural resource management issues across the West.

Jay offered a nice analysis of the role of law and politics in reforming the environmental laws. It was a great overview for the students.
