Bijal Vakil '96 Hosts KHIPLA Spring Mixer in Palo Alto

Last week, King Hall alum Bijal Vakil ‘96, the Managing Partner for White & Case’s Palo Alto office, hosted the King Hall Intellectual Property Association for its annual Spring Mixer. Around a hundred alums, practitioners, recruiters and students from leading firms and companies spent the evening discussing intellectual property careers and working with technology clients. A number of alums, including Matthew Brigham ‘97, a partner with Cooley LLP, David Elkins ‘90, a partner with Squire Sanders Patton Boggs, Megan Olesak ‘97, a partner with Duane Morris, Suzanne Graeser ‘87, a partner with Morrison & Foerster, Janet Stone Herman ‘84 Director of Attorney Development and Women’s Initiatives for Morrison & Foerster, and James Soong, a partner with Sheppard Mullin ‘95 were in attendance. We also had a great turnout of alums working with leading technology companies, including John Pavolotsky ‘00 from Intel, Deborah Davis Han ‘96 from Electronic Arts, Jennifer Gossain ‘07 from Marvell Semiconductor, and Rew Ikazaki ‘87 from Byton North America – a startup electronic vehicle company. In addition, we had a impressive group of recruiters and alums from firms and companies like Fenwick & West, Wilson Sonsini, Baker Botts, Simpson Thacher, Dentons, Morgan Lewis, Arnold & Porter, DLA Piper, Linkedin, Square, Varian, and others.

Our Career Services office led by Craig Compton, along with Sophia Armstrong, the president of KHIPLA, helped make this event happen. Karen Charney, our Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations also made the trip. I would like to especially thank Bijal Vakil and his team at White & Case for hosting the event and providing such a great venue. We have a lot of attorneys practicing in Silicon Valley and it was an outstanding opportunity for them to get together and interact with our students.
