Barrett Lecture Kicks Off Racial Justice Speaker Series
Last week it was wonderful to begin the school year with a full house for our first lecture featuring Professor Jamal Greene of Columbia Law School. Professor Greene delivered the Edward L. Barrett Jr. Lecture on Constitutional Law that was part of our ongoing Racial Justice Speaker Series.
His talk, “How Rights Went Wrong,” gave an enlightened perspective about the role of citizens’ rights in an age of increasing political and societal divisions. He explored how the court system is tasked with balancing the complexities of rights and often reduces the law to winners and losers. Following his lecture, the King Hall students had excellent follow up questions that left us all impressed.
