Bamby Salcedo Delivers Bill Smith Lecture

On March 8, the Lambda Law Students Association hosted the Annual Bill Smith Lecture by Bamby Salcedo, President and CEO of TransLatin@ Coalition. The lecture was the highlight of Lambda Culture Week.

Based in Los Angeles, Salcedo, a dedicated social justice activist, shared her story of inspiration and hope with students. The coalition provides for direct services and empowerment and promoting political change. Salcedo talked about continued discrimination against trans people in California.

The lecture honors the late Bill Smith ’98. I knew Bill, as both the cousin by marriage of my wife (Virginia Salazar), and as a law student at UC Davis School of Law. He was a positive, optimistic and cheerful soul. And I think that Bill Smith would have enjoyed the lecture.
