This week, I had the pleasure of participating in a webinar on what changes we can expect on the immigration front in a Biden/Harris administration.    It was  co-organized by the Global Migration Center, UC Davis; the Berkeley Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative, UC Berkeley; and the Center for Comparative Immigration Studies, UC San Diego. The panelists were:

  • Dianne Solis (immigration journalist, Dallas Morning News
  • Kevin Johnson  (UC Davis School of Law dean), and the directors of each of three UC immigration research centers: Irene Bloemraad, David Fitzgerald and  Giovanni Peri  (UC Davis).  The moderator was  Brad Jones , department of Political Science, UC Davis .

More than 100 reporters and audience members were able to write in questions during the webinar. I discussed some of the immediate policy changes that we might see as well as the long-term possibilities for Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

The presentations were first-rate and the Q&A led to a rich discussion.  We just might see big immigration changes in the Biden/Harris administration.  Stay tuned!
