Another Intellectual Feast at King Hall
March 5 brought another intellectual feast during lunch at UC Davis School of Law.
Kicking off César Chavez week, La Raza Law Students Association presented Raquel Aldana, UC Davis Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Diversity and Professor of Law, who discussed humanitarian migration during the Trump era. She also talked about refugees, asylum seekers, and others seeking humanitarian relief under President Trump.
In a standing room only event in the Kalmanovitz Appellate Courtroom, Senior Associate Dean Madhavi Sunder and Professor Elizabeth Joh discussed the “Free Speech Odyssey” of the musical group The Slants with group member Simon Tan. It was a rich and robust discussion of racism and the First Amendment.
