Aidín Castillo Begins Aoki Interdisciplinary Research Seminar Series
This week, the Aoki Center on Critical Race and Nation Studies began the 2022/23 Interdisciplinary Research Seminar Series. The first speaker in the series was UC Davis Law alum, Aidín Castillo '11, the new Executive Director of the University of California Immigrant Legal Services Center. The center is housed at UC Davis School of Law and provides legal services assistance and support to immigrant students and parents.
Castillo's talk was “The Journey to DACA and Building a Movement for More.” She began by talking about growing up undocumented in the United States and being placed in removal proceedings. Castillo attended UC Davis as an undergraduate and became an immigrant rights activist. Castillo later received Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
Aidín Castillo is one reason why I am proud to teach at UC Davis School of Law.
