Admitted Students Weekend offers a virtual introduction to King Hall life
Last weekend was Admitted Students Weekend. Friday was a live virtual tour and student mixer. It began with the virtual tour of King Hall, followed by an informal mixer with a group of current UC Davis School of Law students.
On Saturday, I opened the event with welcoming remarks. Kimberly A. Chase '07, president of the UC Davis School of Law Alumni Association, spoke next about the incredible community that is King Hall. Montserrat Garcia-Juarez '21, president of the Law Students Association, next offered some words of wisdom on her decision to come to King Hall. Assistant Dean for Admission and Financial Aid Kristen L. Mercado talked about the decision to go the law school.
Admitted students then had the opportunity to attend a mock class taught by Professor Stacy-Ann Elvy, a dedicated and beloved civil procedure professor. Admitted students then attended a panel on careers in law, with Assistant Dean of Career Services Craig Compton and current law students.
Next on the agenda was a faculty panel with Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law Afra Afsharipour and Professors Ashutosh Bhagwat, Karrigan Bork, Andrea Cann Chandrasekher, David Horton, Lisa Ikemoto and Aaron Tang. Students were lucky to be able to hear from such a wonderful group of excellent professors.
On Monday, there was a student services overview. Senior Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Emily Scivoletto, Assistant Dean for Academic Success Chris Ide-Don, Director of Financial Aid Montré Everett, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Fellow Alexis Elston spoke with the admitted students.
It was great meeting what we hope will be the Class of 2024!
