Seminar – 1 unit. The Food Innovation, Law and Policy Seminar introduces students to the exciting world of new food discoveries and their relationship to food law and policy. UC Davis, ranked no. 1 in the world for agriculture, including food science and technology, produces innovative food products and processes through various campus centers. The seminar examines how new food products/processes are developed and how the campus navigates the legal landscape to facilitate, protect, and reward new food products and processes through the transfer of technology as new discoveries move into the marketplace. The seminar uses the campus as a laboratory to explore the fast-paced, changing food environment that is working to achieve sustainability and environmental protection of domestic and global food resources, and legal issues arising from the changing environment.
