Capital Law Scholars Externship

King Hall’s Capital Law Scholars allows students to earn academic credit in the fall and spring semesters in legislative offices or committees, or with a government or nonprofit office engaged in legislative and policy work. Participating students will become familiar with governance and policymaking in California, including how laws are made and the role of attorneys in their interpretation and enforcement.

All externships have two components: (1) Field supervisors oversee assignments and provide feedback for students to build their legal skills and knowledge, and (2) students complete professional development assignments under the supervision of a King Hall faculty advisor. Capital Law Scholars Program participants may enroll in part-time or full-time placements. Approved placements may be in-person, hybrid or remote.
