Summer Associates Reception 2014

Posted By Kevin R. Johnson, Aug 6, 2014

I had a wonderful time at the Barristers’ Club of Sacramento annual Summer Associates Reception in Sacramento. This event honors the summer associates and firms participating in the Sacramento County Bar Association’s Diversity Hiring and Retention Program, which provides diverse law students an opportunity to work in a law firm between the first and second years of law school. UC Davis was well represented. King Hall students taking part in the Summer Diversity Fellowship program include Suleiman Oladeinde, Ari O’Brien, Sue Chang, Christopher Im, Jacqueline Win, Stephanie Padilla, Elaine Won and Camellia Imani. Also in attendance were Tiffanie De La Riva, Austin Cho, Shannon Morrissey, and Marissa Morimoto.

I was able to catch up with a number of summers and was able to catch up with a number of friends of UC Davis School of Law, including Presiding Justice Vance Raye (California Court of Appeals, Third District), federal judges John Mendez, William Shubb, and Chief Judge Morrison England, and many other judges, including Judge David Brown '74, Judge Kevin Culhane, Judge Raoul Thorbourne (father of recent graduate Alana Thorbourne ‘12), Judge Russell Hom, and many others.  Assistant Dean for Career Services Craig Compton was also in attendance.  It was a warm and energetic evening with attorneys, law students, and judges in Sacramento.
