Bo Han Yang ’10 is a Staff Attorney at the Department of Managed Health Care. Now he’s officially a singing idol, too. Bo just won the grand prize in the “Top Idol” competition, which he refers to as “the Chinese copy/knock-off of American Idol.”
He writes, “The competition took place in L.A., with contestants flying in from various parts of the world. I won a Mini Cooper. There was also a karaoke machine, a check for $1500, followed by a $2000 gift card to shop at Southcoast Plaza. I was also offered a management contract with a very large and reputable entertainment conglomerate with offices in Hong Kong, Taipei, Shanghai, and Beijing. I will be reviewing the offer in the next few days using my lawyerly skills.”
He also says, “Sam Ford '10 shot the clip [of the winning performance, an Usher cover that can be seen here on YouTube] and Shannon Going '10, Jeff Liu '10, and Carlos Gallardo '10 provided the impromptu voice-over/scream tracks. My band during law school, the Depraved Hearts (see plaque in KH courtyard), provided moral support as well.”
