UC Leaders Meet to Discuss Support for Undocumented Students

University of California President Janet Napolitano (above) kicked off a day long discussion in Oakland on May 3 with UC leaders to discuss how the university can provide financial and other support to undocumented students as well as those who are recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which President Trump has threatened to end. I was on a panel of immigration leaders, including Tom Saenz of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Maria Blanco of the UC Center for Immigrant Legal Services, which helped begin a robust discussion of possibilities.
Our conference was in a room with the picture of a proud UC Davis alum on the wall, Chief Justice of California Tani Cantil-Sakauye!
