King Hall Announces UC Office of the President Post-Bar Public Service Partnership Fellowships

Posted By Career Services Staff, Apr 25, 2016

Attention Class of 2016!

On March 17, 2016, UC Davis School of Law announced that it would dedicate funding to partner with non-profit organizations and government agencies to create one-year fellowships for Class of 2016 graduates seeking to pursue a career in the public service. With the announcement of the new University of California Presidential Public Service Fellowships, the pool of funding for these post-bar partnerships will likely expand. Consequently, on April 15, 2016, we extended the deadline to submit applications for such fellowships to Friday, April 29, 2016 at 5:00 pm. These partnership fellowships will be known as the UCOP President’s Public Interest Fellowships from this point forward.

Under the terms of these fellowships, both the law school and the partnering organization or agency contribute funding to the overall cost of the fellowship. There is no minimum required contribution from the organization or agency and given the increased funding now available, fellowship proposals for which the host organization or agency’s contribution is minimal or in-kind now have an increased chance of approval. However, the host organization or agency’s level of investment in the fellowship project remains a significant factor in the evaluation and selection of successful applications.

In order to be considered for a fellowship please submit the following application materials by 5:00 p.m. on April 29, 2016 to

  • A current resume;
  • A statement detailing your proposal, including all of the following information:
    • the organization you plan to partner with
    • details regarding the work you will perform
    • how you and the partnering organization will interact with UC Davis School of Law – e.g. work with interns during the school year or summer; and
    • a simple budget, showing:
      • a salary of $45,000 per year;
      • the level of funding committed by the partnering organization; and
      • the requested level of funding from the law school.

When applying, please label your application materials in the subject line of your e-mail as follows:  “[insert name] application materials for UCD Law Partnership Fellowship Application.”  If you have questions regarding the program, please contact Timothy Griffiths ( in the Career Services Office.

A committee will review the applications and the school will notify applicants in early May regarding the status of their applications.

Please feel free to direct questions to Timothy Griffiths, Public Interest & Public Sector Career Advisor, at .
