Summer Job Diversity Programs Select UC Davis Law Students

First-year students at UC Davis Law are securing summer diversity job opportunities at high rates.

The Sacramento County Bar Association offers summer fellowships to McGeorge School of Law and UC Davis Law students. This year, SCBA offered UC Davis Law students 15 of the 19 available jobs. The program provides paid 10-week fellowships for diverse and underrepresented law students. In addition to providing students with exceptional law firm experiences, the program also offers weekly educational programs including discussions on professional development and visits with federal and state judges.

An impressive list of Sacramento-based and national law firms are participating in the SCBA fellowships program including: Boutin Jones, CDF Labor Law, California Earthquake Authority, Cook Brown, Downey Brand, Fisher Phillips, Greenberg Traurig, Hanson Bridgett, Klinedinst, Krogh & Decker, Kronick, Lozano Smith, Ogletree Deakins, Porter Scott, Seyfarth, Sloan Sakai, Stoel Rives, Weintraub Tobin and Wilke Fleury.

In addition to the SCBA fellowships, first-year students are in the process of interviewing for summer jobs with the Law in Tech Diversity Collaborative, where students get the opportunity to split their summer working with the in-house legal team of a tech company and a large law firm. There are also a number of students interviewing with the Bay Area Minority Clerkships Program, which provides first-year students with paid opportunities to work with law firms, companies and public sector employers. Historically, UC Davis Law students are highly competitive in receiving these prestigious summer jobs.
