Professor Joe Honored at 2024 Chancellor's Fellows Reception

I attended the reception honoring the 2024 Chancellor's Fellows, including our own Professor Irene Joe. This is the week of Professor Joe, as she is being honored with the Law School's Distinguished Teaching Award at the Celebrating King Hall gala at the Mondavi Center. 

The chancellor's event honored the nine new fellows. Professor Joe spoke of why she was interested in criminal justice, coming from a Black immigrant family in Texas. She also talked of her public defender research. It was an inspiring presentation and made us all proud. 

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Afra Afsharipour, Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations Karen Charney, and two of Professor Joe's friends from high school also attended.
